Haptics

Relevant to output system.

Physical sensations, such as vibrations or pushes, that are generated by an output device, like a gamepad, in response to the game’s events.

It refers to any simulated physical feedback in games, including force feedback and tactile feedback.

Hard disk drive (HDD)

Relevant to development.

A device that stores data on spinning disks.

Heads-up display (HUD)

Relevant to output system.

A transparent display that presents data without necessitating players to divert their gaze from their usual viewpoints.

Health bar

Relevant to output system.

A visual representation that indicates the level of vitality possessed by a character or an object.

Hero unit

Relevant to gameplay.

A unit in a real-time strategy game, which represents a significant figure on the battlefield or in the narrative.

High dynamic range (HDR)

Relevant to output system.

An effect that introduces greater variability in light levels within a scene compared to a standard dynamic range.

High-level document

Relevant to development.

A document that provides concise information that is accessible to a broad audience. However, a document of lower level contains information that is described in greater detail.

Hint

Relevant to output system.

An advice that aids players in making progress in the game.

Hit points

Relevant to gameplay.

A metric indicating the proximity of a character or object to death, incapacitation, or destruction.

Hue

Relevant to output system.

A base color that is devoid of any additional hues, such as:

  • Yellow.
  • Yellow-orange.
  • Orange.
  • Red-orange.
  • Red.
  • Red-purple.
  • Purple.
  • Blue-purple.
  • Blue.
  • Blue-green.
  • Green.
  • Yellow-green.

However, the aforementioned colors are never designated as a hue.

  • Black.
  • Grey.
  • White.

There are twelve colors on the color wheel, which are commonly referred to as hues.
